Buy your ducks (or just make a donation for a great cause) at the High Desert Kiwanis Duck Booth on Saturday or Sunday - pay $5 per chance to win, with no limit on how many ducks you can purchase!
Money raised in the Rubber Duck Race will go toward the local Reading Is Fundamental program, the project's co-sponsor. This year's goal is to buy enough books so that every young child in Sierra County can have 3 books of their very own.
Duck Race winners will receive the following prizes:
1st: a large barbecue grill.
2nd: a $300 gift certificate at Bullocks Grocery
3rd prize: portable DVD player
4th: Booby Prize! (a Rubber Duck Race tradition)
The race typically begins at 1pm Sunday, but actual start time will depend on weather and other factors. Check in at the Duck Booth over the weekend for info.
If you'd like to donate early or have other questions, contact Wendy Miller, Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Southwest District, at 575-571-0733. |
